Last week, I watched Toy Story 5 with my girlfriend at CGV Yeongdeungpo Time Square. We watched it in a regular theater and had a comfortable time — since I grew up loving this series, I booked tickets as soon as I heard about the release.
Basic Info
Directed by Andrew Stanton, Toy Story 5 follows the toys as they're gradually pushed aside from daily life after kids become absorbed in a new smart tablet called "LilyPad." It was great to see Woody, Buzz, and Jessie all voiced by the same actors as before. At 101 minutes, the runtime felt much more manageable compared to the earlier films.
My Thoughts
Throughout the movie, memories of watching the very first Toy Story as a kid kept coming back to me. The moment I heard Woody and Buzz's voices, it felt like being teleported straight back to childhood. Even though it's a new story, having the familiar characters return felt like reuniting with old friends. My girlfriend mentioned she remembered watching it as a kid too, and we ended up reminiscing the whole time — I didn't expect one movie to turn into such a nostalgia trip.
Overall Review
If you grew up watching Toy Story, this fifth installment will probably mean more to you than just another animated film. It was a great time reliving old memories with my girlfriend after such a long break.
